Was Cyberpunk 2077 Going to the Moon?

The files of a deleted DLC have surfaced, and we’ve got a lot of details, so even though CD Projekt RED (CDPR) is no longer doing it, we still know, for example, how big the new area would have been.

Everything we’re going to talk about below was leaked on 4chan, which is not exactly known for its reliability. The files for the canceled DLC for Cyberpunk 2077 report that the story would have been set during a new corporate war, and the base game had plenty of text referring to it. The setting would have been the moon and would have been about six square kilometers in size. Since that doesn’t tell us anything, we’ll give you a basis for comparison: Night City is about twenty-four square kilometers, so we would have had about a quarter of the area of the base game in the DLC.

There would have been more bases, and we could have added a lunar rover for transportation, so we could have moved around on the planet itself. This DLC was ultimately canceled by CDPR because the work on the game was spent on improving the quality, as Cyberpunk 2077 was released in terrible condition for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC at the end of 2020, despite repeated delays, and the current generation version had to wait for more time before the Polish company could finish it.

There was some DLC, but only one. The Phantom Liberty add-on was excellent, but CDPR didn’t bring it to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, only the current-gen platforms got it. But with CDPR working on a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 (which they’re working on at their studio in Boston), hopefully, the Poles will pick up on some of the elements left out of the base game, so maybe the sequel will make use of their ideas for the moon.

For Cyberpunk 2077, CDPR had plans for a multiplayer title, which they also swept off the table. So the Poles overcommitted themselves, but maybe the sobering slap in the face was good for them.
