Naoki Yoshida Reveals What Other Consoles Final Fantasy XIV Might Be Coming To! [VIDEO]

The Switch 2 hasn’t been released or announced yet, but Square Enix says they’re open to bringing Final Fantasy XIV to Nintendo’s next console…

Final Fantasy XIV is and remains one of Square Enix’s most successful video games. Over the years, the company continuously releases expansions and maintains its subscriber base. However, the downside is that it wasn’t available on Xbox consoles until March of this year, and it’s not currently available on Switch either. (Not to mention the obstacle that the MMORPG’s not localized in most languages.)

Knowing all this, Naoki Yoshida, the director of Final Fantasy XIV, addressed the issue in an interview with Easy Allies, where he was asked if we could see the MMORPG on the Nintendo Switch successor console, which has not yet been released or presented.

Fortunately, Yoshi-P is open to working on the port and accomplishing his goal. “My dream, or goal, for more than ten years at this point is for players to be able to play Final Fantasy XIV regardless of device, and be able to access the servers to go in and access the same world.”

Yoshida continues his explanation and mentions the Xbox and Nintendo platforms (after NintendoEverything). “We’ve been talking for years to bring the game on the Xbox platform, and so of course we would love to have our title available on the Nintendo platform, and we do want to continue our efforts. But it did take a lot of time – with Xbox, we literally have talked for years, and it is now finally coming to fruition. We will try our best and continue to work hard at it and continue our efforts.”

“Eventually, it would be cool – something that we would love to sort of explore and make a reality one day,” said the Square Enix member.

At the moment, it is highly unlikely that we will see Final Fantasy XIV on Switch. However, it looks like there’s a pretty good chance we’ll be playing the MMO on Nintendo’s next console once it’s released.

Will Final Fantasy XIV ever be translated into other languages?

Final Fantasy XIV is currently available in four languages: Japanese, English, French, and German. However, Square Enix knows that we also want FFXIV in Spanish, after all half the world speaks it. The company has confirmed that their strategy is to expand its audience. Unfortunately, he didn’t say anything specific. “This isn’t just for Final Fantasy XIV, but I hope we can increase the number of supported languages in general,” explained Yoshida.
