Gears of War: E-Day: What to Expect Regarding Multiplayer Modes?

Will The Coalition’s new game, revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase, follow in the footsteps of what the franchise has done before, or will it go in a different direction?

The first video of Gears of War: E-Day didn’t run in real time (as we previously reported), but it still managed to grab the audience’s attention. The video didn’t really talk about whether there would be multiplayer, so a new interview gave us the answer to that question. Matt Searcy, creative director for Gears of War: E-Day, didn’t give Windows Central a 100% sure answer.

According to Searcy, it’s the next big Gears [of War] game, and the franchise has a very clear DNA when it comes to gameplay, so he thinks it’s possible to guess which direction they’re going with E-Day. Multiplayer will certainly not be left out of The Coalition’s game this time around. In the interview, Searcy and Brand Director Nicole Fawcette also touched on the storylines of Gears of War 4 and Gears 5.

Many thought that the studio would announce Gears 6, but that didn’t happen as Gears of War: E-Day became a prequel story, but that doesn’t automatically mean that the studio is ignoring the storylines of the two games just mentioned. According to Searcy, everything is going into Gears of War: E-Day, and they’ll decide what happens after that. Fawcette added that they’re not backing away from Gears of War 4 and Gears 5 because they’ve taken the time to think about what stories they want to tell so they can drive the franchise from both sides. He hopes the fans will enjoy the story they are excited to tell.

Gears of War: E-Day is coming to Xbox Series and PC. There is no release date yet, but we have already written about the year we can expect it to be released.
