The publisher, led by Yves Guillemot, is currently looking for actors for an unannounced game, with two IPs under consideration…
According to the story, Gone is a tactical military game that seeks to navigate the complexities of war. According to Ubisoft, this definition fits two IPs: Rainbow Six and Ghost Recon. The former could be a big surprise, because if it were a story-driven game (which is not the case with Rainbow Six: Siege), the French publisher would dare to innovate, but this is not something they are used to doing…
Two characters are confirmed for a main role. One of them is Ahn, aged 25-35, a Thai or Thai-American woman. The role is primarily English, but fluency in Thai is a big plus. She must be able to read at least some phonetic Thai words in English. The accent can be a light Thai accent or standard American, a British mix, or any mix that portrays her high level of international education. She is worldly, determined and compassionate with an edge. Educated at a prestigious American university, she now works for a multinational NGO as a tireless advocate for those in need. Ahn can come across as condescending, but her words still carry empathy. The character arc finds her questioning her allies, conflicted about what’s truly right or wrong, as her reality is shaken in ways that seem impossible to turn back from. The other main character is Kya-Win, who is in his 40s or 50s. He’s Thai or Thai-American. He also prefers to speak Thai. He was the former head of the national secret police and is now a rogue operator. Decisive, dedicated, athletic, and fit with a military past, he is an experienced manipulator, spy, and risk-taker. Inspired by the coup revolution in his country, he is an enigma of a patriot who will destroy his own people, and with a strangely honest code of ethics, he inspires others to follow his ways.
Of the next four, only one character’s role is confirmed. Ringo is an Indonesian-American or Asian-American in his thirties. He speaks with an American accent. He also speaks some rudimentary Thai, but his accent is not authentic and this dialog can be learned. He is a respected, experienced veteran soldier who is centered, charismatic, and unwavering. He is also haunted by a hidden past and has covered up his use of performance-enhancing drugs, resulting in “friendly fire” that causes self-hatred and drives him into battle again and again. He feels worthy only by completing missions and doing good in the world. Weapons training or military skills are a plus. Spengler is also in his thirties, of Japanese or South American descent, with an American accent. He is the team’s forensic specialist. Emotionally unavailable and unable to connect with others unless it’s a topic that interests him. Cerebral and intense. Where others see chaos and danger, he sees stability and purpose.
Uhura is in her thirties. She’s American-Middle Eastern (or American-North African) with an American accent. She grew up in New Mexico and had a difficult home life. She generally speaks in a deep, relaxed voice. She’s a sniper and a sharpshooter. She has a burning desire for justice, but is comfortable in her role as a killer. She is comfortable in silence and doesn’t feel the need to talk. Weapons training or military skills are a plus. And finally, the one role that is confirmed to be a supporting role. Raphael is in his mid-30s to late 40s. He’s a veteran soldier and the perfect spec-ops operator. He leads a team shrouded in secrecy, and every mission is critical and dangerous. These missions require him to ignore the suffering of innocent people and accept collateral damage. He is a natural leader, defined by his responsibility and courage rather than aggression.
What will this game be? Perhaps Ubisoft will announce it in a year or so.
