Dragon Age: The Veilguard: You can Set a Unique Difficulty Level

Game Informer has chosen BioWare’s next game as this month’s cover story, so we’ve got more information on Dragon Age 4.

This time, the publication has revealed the difficulty levels that Dragon Age: The Veilguard will offer. The first three (Storyteller, Adventurer, Nightmare) are self-explanatory: easy, medium, hard. You can switch between them at any time while playing either Storyteller or Adventurer. Nightmare does not allow this: once you switch to it, there’s no going back, so the only way to make it easier is to restart the game.

However, there will be a unique option, Unbound, which will allow you to tweak a few things in the game. The parry time (how much time you have), the aiming aid (even auto aiming), the aggression of your opponents (how fast or how often they attack you), how much damage you can take, how much damage you deal, and even the wayfinding can be adjusted. If you’re just interested in the story in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you can essentially activate God Mode, as there will also be an option that prevents you from dying.

Corinne Busche, one of the game’s directors, told Game Informer that the studio believes these features are not intended to cheat, but were implemented by the developers to allow all fans to participate in the adventure. There will be other features in the game to make it easier to use, but BioWare will not say more about them until closer to launch. It’s unlikely that the studio will be able to compete with the teams at PlayStation Studios, as they really do put a lot of accessibility features into their games to make them playable for everyone, regardless of health.

There is still no exact release date for Dragon Age: The Veilguard. Electronic Arts will probably announce at Gamescom when BioWare’s game will be released for PlayStation 5, Xbox series and PC. At the moment, all we know is that it will come out sometime in the fall. Maybe November, maybe October.
