The Metal Gear Solid Movie can Finally be Made?! Good News from the Producer!

MOVIE NEWS – The live-action adaptation of Metal Gear Solid is still in development, and it looks like work is finally progressing…

The long-awaited live-action adaptation of Metal Gear Solid has received a fascinating update from producer Avi Arad, who has confirmed that the project is still in development. They have been working on the adaptation of the franchise since 2006 (!). While we haven’t heard much about the film beyond that it will be directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts and star Oscar Isaac, Arad has assured Game that the script is already in the works…

“We’re working on the script some more, but I can’t talk about it yet. I think everyone’s going to be really excited and surprised.”

According to the report, Isaac, best known for his roles in the Star Wars saga, Dune, and Moon Knight, has reportedly dropped out of the project. Derek Connolly, the writer of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and Kong: Skull Island, is reworking the script.

In the sequel, Arad noted that Metal Gear Solid is the “pinnacle” of video game adaptations and assured fans that he strives to make it “fantastic”.

“I never thought about it like that. These are just movies I want to make as good as possible, you know? I think getting Metal Gear right will obviously be amazing because I think it’s a lot more meditative than some of the other adaptations. Personally, I want it to be terrific.”

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima already knows who he wants to play Solid Snake

Created by Hideo Kojima and developed and published by Konami, Metal Gear remains one of the most well-known and celebrated video game franchises of the modern era. The first game, released in 1998, follows a special forces agent who is tasked with finding the titular superweapon, “Metal Gear”. Featuring all manner of stealth, espionage, and action, as well as cyberpunk, dystopian, political, and philosophical themes, Metal Gear spawned several sequels.

Although Oscar Isaac is now out of the lead role of Solid Snake, creator Hideo Kojima knows who he wants to replace him as the super agent.

Even one of the stars of Furiosa, Tom Burke! Kojima recently commented on the casting idea on social media, saying:

“Jack, Furiosa’s mentor, is played by Tom Burke. To me, he looked just like Snake. Apparently, when I met him at a party and listened to him, everyone told me on the first day of filming that he sounded like Snake. “

Incidentally, Kong: Skull Island director Jordan Vogt-Roberts has been signed on to direct the MGS film since 2014 and is hoping the project will be R-rated. According to his hopes, a “riskier, balls-to-the-wall, Kojima-san version” can be made from it, he told Collider back in 2018. After waiting almost two decades for the film to be released, we hope the adaptation comes together sooner rather than later…
