TMNT: Mutant Mayhem Fans Finally Get Exciting Sequel News from Seth Rogen

MOVIE NEWS – Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem has reignited enthusiasm for the TMNT franchise, and now Seth Rogen, who contributed to writing and producing the film, has shared some thrilling news about its sequel. After saving the city from Superfly in the 2023 film, Leonardo, Donatello, Michelangelo, and Raphael seemed to be heading towards a peaceful, ordinary life. However, tranquility never lasts long for heroes like the Turtles, and the movie ended with a hint of more excitement to come.

Mutant Mayhem concluded with a brief glimpse of Shredder and his foot clan as the credits rolled, leaving fans eager for more. It was later announced that a new Paramount+ series, Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, would debut in August, bringing the fab four to the small screen. But the burning question remains: what’s happening with the big-screen sequel teased last year?

In an interview with ComicBook.com, Rogen shared an exciting update on the film. Rogen revealed that the movie already has a title and is fully storyboarded. Here’s his full quote:

“There is a title, and it’s amazing, but I don’t think I can reveal it. But when it came up on the screen, I stood up and cheered. There’s an animatic — a storyboarded version of the entire movie, so they are working on it right now.”

Mutant Mayhem Universe to Expand Beyond TV and Movies

Tales of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is set to premiere on August 9, with Micah Abbey, Shamon Brown Jr., Nicolas Cantu, Brady Noon, and Ayo Edebiri reprising their voice roles from the 2023 film. However, the new Paramount+ series and eventual theatrical sequel are just a few continuations of the Mutant Mayhem universe in development.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed is an upcoming story-driven multiplayer 3D platforming game set in the same universe as the movie and the upcoming TV series. The trailer was released on July 11, and the game will feature Leonardo, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo facing off against a new batch of mutants as well as familiar enemies. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed will be released on October 18, 2024, for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Windows, and Steam platforms.

The Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles remains one of Paramount’s hugely successful global intellectual properties. According to Deadline, global merchandise sales for the franchise have exceeded $8 billion since 2012. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem grossed over $180 million at the box office on a $70 million budget. With new additions on the way for this era of the turtles and decades of TMNT merchandise, video games, movies, and TV series appealing to multiple generations of turtle fans, it’s clear that Donatello, Leonardo, Michelangelo, and Raphael will continue to be significant revenue generators for Nickelodeon and Paramount for the foreseeable future.
