Critical Problem Found in Microsoft Outlook – Here’s What to Do!

TECH NEWS – If you use Microsoft Outlook, update your computer immediately because the software has become vulnerable!

Microsoft users are preparing to say goodbye to Windows 10. The operating system, which has accompanied us for almost a decade, will soon reach the end of its life. The American company will stop issuing free updates in October 2025. As a result, anyone who hasn’t switched to Windows 11 will find their computer vulnerable and unprotected. However, according to the latest news, there is an even more worrying aspect for brand users: problems with Outlook.

As pointed out in a recent publication of the TechSpot portal, the bug marked CVE-2024-3802 can give attackers remote access to the affected systems.

Therefore, Microsoft has called on users to download the company’s latest updates. These updates can fix this vulnerability and prevent malicious actors from accessing the affected computers. In fact, attacks can even be “zero-click” if they come from trusted senders.

What does Microsoft recommend if we are under attack?

According to the original source, attackers can read, write and delete files on infected systems. As Microsoft indicates, for the time being, it encourages its users to view the mail in Outlook’s preview window. This view is safe, so it is one of the means of defence against possible attacks. For now, we’ll have to wait until DEF CON 32 in Las Vegas to learn the details of the exploit and other information about another vulnerability known as CVE-2024-30103.

As the company itself points out, users should exercise due care when checking e-mails and prioritize updating critical software. Microsoft is currently investigating another exploit that allows the impersonation of any Outlook account. However, there is one worrying aspect: until a researcher discovered the vulnerability and published it on X, the American company did not notice it. So, the bottom line is that if you use Outlook, it is recommended that you update your computer immediately!
