What is Nintendo’s Mysterious Emio Project? You Probably won’t Guess!

In the short teaser, Emio didn’t really reveal what it could be, but a leaker says you can put the puzzle pieces together.

On Twitter, Samus Hunter talked about the mysterious video of the capital N. It’s not something associated with the Bloober team, so it’s not the Polish studio working on this project. It’s a Nintendo IP associated with an older studio, and the Nintendo EPD is helping with the development. It’s a series that has two prequels that have already been released on Nintendo Switch. It’s not a horror game, but the suggestive themes and violence are not absent from the setting. He added that he really likes some of the games the producer has made, and he expects an announcement in a few days, with a release coming soon…

Judging by the comment, it will be a new installment of the Famicom Detective Club. The producer, writer and composer of the franchise also created Metroid, and Samus Hunter, as the name suggests, loves that IP. The text of the smiling man on the teaser website matches the naming scheme of the Famicom Detective Club series, as the two games have very similar names – The Missing Heir and The Girl Who Stands Behind.

However, Reddit is calling the leak a joke, and is therefore not sure if Emio is really related to the Famicom Detective Club, a franchise that consists of two adventure games released for the Famicom Disk System (only in Japan, as the disk add-on was not brought to the West by Nintendo). The first installment was The Missing Heir, and the second was The Girl Who Stands Behind, and both games were received on the Switch, so they can now be played in English.

The name The Smiling Man is suspiciously similar, though.
