Is Judgement Day Inevitable?! The Terminator Zero Trailer Is Here! [VIDEO]

MOVIE NEWS – Netflix’s upcoming anime series Terminator Zero will debut on the streamer next month.

 

 

On August 29, 1997, the artificial intelligence Skynet began its war against humanity. And in the latest instalment of the Terminator franchise, Netflix’s upcoming anime series Terminator Zero, just one person may be able to stop the impending apocalypse.

Set in 2022, the eight-episode series will follow characters we haven’t met yet in the beloved franchise. According to the announcement: “Caught between the future and this past is a soldier sent back in time to change the fate of humanity. She arrives in 1997 to protect a scientist named Malcolm Lee who works to launch a new AI system designed to compete with Skynet’s impending attack on humanity. As Malcolm navigates the moral complexities of his creation, he’s hunted by an unrelenting assassin from the future, which forever alters the fate of his three children.”

The voice cast is led by Timothy Olyphant as the Terminator.

Rosario Dawson plays Kokoro, another artificial intelligence entity who may be able to stop Skynet. And André Holland plays the computer programmer Malcolm, who tries to change the apocalyptic future he foresees. Sonoya Mizuno will be the soldier sent back to save the world. In a role written specifically for her, Ann Dowd also appears as “The Prophet”, the “philosophical leader” of the human resistance in the future.

Terminator Zero is the 10th instalment in the franchise, following six films (including the most recent 2019 Terminator: Dark Fate), the short-lived TV series “The Sarah Connor Chronicles”, and two previous streaming series.

The anime is executive produced by Skydance, Japanese animation studio Production I.G. and creator/showrunner Mattson Tomlin. The series will premiere on Netflix on August 29. Watch the teaser trailer below!
