Hello Games’ game is still expanding for free (Sean Murray, we’ve long since forgiven the game’s initial stumbling block!), but there’s a rather interesting hint in there, if you can read between the lines…
No Man’s Sky’s latest update is called Worlds, and yes, it’s almost worlds away that Hello Games’ eight-year-old game continues to receive a steady stream of new content, while Bethesda Game Studios’ Todd Howard claims that DLCs are planned for Starfield, one a year, and they would probably be paid, so heaven and earth is what Murray and Howard represent: Murray has been able to restore his reputation, while Howard’s not so sure.
But it’s not about them, it’s about the No Man’s Sky update. It’s been revealed on Twitter what graphics settings the game is using on PlayStation 5… and Trinity! It’s the codename for the PlayStation 5 Pro, and Sony still refuses to confirm the console’s existence, but we wrote earlier today that they don’t have much time before the lid comes off, because if a game openly hints at it, the hardware IS it. So what are the differences? The lowest dynamic resolution scaling ratio is 0.8, compared to 0.6 on the base PlayStation 5, and there’s a slight difference in water quality, with the PS5’s graphics detail on the high end, compared to Ultra on the yet-to-be-announced half-generation update.
That’s not a huge difference between the two platforms, so you’ll have to look elsewhere to see the difference between PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. What will the FRAME RATE be? If it’s much more stable on the more powerful console and can deliver a solid 60 fps at native 4K resolution, it could provide a very strong gaming experience for gamers who will likely have to spend a lot of money on the console, as the base PlayStation 5 isn’t cheap either, as it hasn’t dropped in price since its release, it’s just gotten more expensive.
We’ll see.
