The Former President of Nintendo of America is Optimistic About the Future of the Games Industry!

Reggie Fils-Aimé, the former president of Nintendo’s U.S. subsidiary, says we should not dismiss the game industry.

Fils-Aimé led Nintendo of America for 13 years. He stepped down in April 2019 and was replaced by the aptly named Doug Bowser, and while Reggie hasn’t had much rest over the past half-decade, he’s since written a book and launched a podcast series, while also making some public appearances. He’s also been a frequent visitor to the press, so he hasn’t completely disappeared (as you might expect from Jim Ryan, former CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment).

Fils-Aimé believes that the games industry will soon recover from its post-pandemic low. He explained this in more detail to Yahoo Finance. The former U.S. president of Nintendo pointed out that gamers showed great interest in the games announced in June, and that these titles could be very promising. He didn’t give any examples, but if you had to think internally, you’d have to think of The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom and Metroid Prime 4: Echoes. There was a lot of communication about those two games.

Fils-Aimé also pointed out that the post-pandemic state of the games industry was also affected by the “free money” as the growth rate also declined, a reference to the low investment rates seen in the run-up to the launch of the PlayStation 5 and Xbox series. Developers created a lot of content and he said some of it should never have been created. Reggie believes that the crisis that started in 2023 will be over by 2025.

Next year will indeed see the arrival of some long-awaited games like Grand Theft Auto VI, but for a hardware example, there’s also the Nintendo Switch 2 (or whatever the Big N’s new hardware will be called). The release of the PlayStation 5 Pro could also help the gaming industry.
