Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred: Why Doing Less Damage Might Be Better!

Blizzard will be tweaking a few things in the first expansion pack for Diablo IV, so there will be a small change that you will notice if you play the base game a lot.

Blizzard has recently introduced a new character class, the Spiritborn. The Wowhead and the game’s subreddit have been talking about the new character’s gameplay, and many have noticed that the level cap in Diablo IV is going down, as you can have a maximum level of 60 instead of the current 100. This could indicate a significant change in the way Paragon points fall into your lap. Why would this be a change to the game already available on Game Pass?

In the Spiritborn game menu, we can see that after level fifty, we see XP streaks without Paragon Point unlock nodes (which you can see now). Instead, it appears that points can be earned by maxing out each “level,” similar to the system in Diablo III. But now there will be no “infinite” Paragon point accumulation, because that would require Blizzard to completely overhaul the current system, and we don’t think they’ll do that.

Another indication of the lower level is that a quick tip shows how much armor you need at level 60. This is currently displayed for level 100. Also, the potion upgrades that you can buy from the alchemist seem to be capped at level 60 instead of the current 90. In addition to lowering the level, the damage rate will also be lowered: at least you won’t have billions of HP like in Final Fantasy XVI, but the base Diablo IV also struggles with this because the current gigantic numbers are hard to read and players have demanded a change from Blizzard.

The level 30 Spiritborn does far less damage than what we see in the game now, and items have seen a decrease in damage as well. The gameplay will not change significantly in Vessel of Hatred, so our opponents will not be “tankier”. But we should add that this is not official yet, as the public is only speculating at this point.

Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred will be released on October 8th.
