Deadpool & Wolverine: Could One of the Most Popular Avengers Superhero Return Like Logan?!

MOVIE NEWS – Of course, whether the aforementioned Avengers character really wants to return is an entirely different matter…

Marvel’s press release machine is working hard to promote Deadpool & Wolverine further. Disney is clearly riding on the success of the latest MCU title, as they’ve dragged poor Kevin Feige out of the underground bunker he’s been fleeing to build up the hype ahead of its worldwide release. The Marvel boss made a fascinating comment about one of the favourite characters from Avengers…

In an interview with DiscussingFilm, Feige was explicitly asked about the possible return of Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man.

This became relevant after Hugh Jackman re-played the role of Wolverine, who died spectacularly earlier, in the movie Deadpool & Wolverine.

“That’s the key, right?” – replied Feige – “‘How do you do it in a way that maintains what has come before, and in a great way?’ And we’ve been spending, you know, the last two-plus years figuring that out for Wolverine.”

“So, what’s to come? We’ll see.” – he continued – “We’re just proud that we, I think, have figured it out for Wolverine. I think Hugh’s appearance and starring role in [Deadpool & Wolverine] is a great sign that it can be done – if great care is taken.”

It’s no secret that both ticket sales and critical scores for the Marvel Cinematic Universe have plummeted since the release of 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. As you may remember, that film was also Robert Downey Jr.’s last Iron Man appearance.

Of course, Avengers: Endgame was one of a kind in terms of box office numbers. So, comparing it to the other MCU films that followed is a bit unfair. However, Disney is clearly desperate to repeat its success. The return of Iron Man seems like a possible option for this.

Whether Robert Downey Jr. wants to return is a completely different story. After all, since his departure, he has clearly enjoyed being able to take on roles in more serious films and series (such as Oppenheimer and The Sympathizer). Unlike other Marvel heroes, it’s unclear if he still sees fantasy in the character.

However, he reportedly earned around $130 million for his final appearance in the MCU. I’m sure he’d be happy to shell out a bunch more money for a little cameo in a future Marvel movie…
