Date Everything: Date Everyone and Everything, Even a… Toaster! [VIDEO]

…or something else, because it could happen in a game from Sassy Chap Games, published by Team17 (probably because they see potential in the genre).

The dating simulator genre is a bit of a layered game, but we’ve had the chance to date swords, pigeons, or KFC founder Colonel Sanders in other games. Now we have Date Everything, which literally does what it says on the tin: you can have a hundred fully voiced household objects as your friend, partner, or even enemy. All of this is made possible by the magic glasses that allow us to interact with inanimate objects by default.

According to the game description, Date Everything is an exciting new twist on dating simulators. Our character loses his job in the company’s customer service department to artificial intelligence, but a mysterious stranger sends him a package. The dating goggles (dateviators) bring our house to life and you can go on a date with them. In the video you can see a piano (Keyes), a refrigerator, a slightly sci-fi looking vacuum cleaner, a laundry basket, a washing machine or a bookshelf. They all talk and have different personalities. Both the character designer and the voice actors have done a good job, because with this little taste they have shown how creative the result can be when bright minds get together.

It’s not exactly a AAA game, it’s not a technical revolution, but it doesn’t want to be. It is not to be taken seriously, and that is why it attracts attention. If Hatoful Boyfriend worked in the past (you could meet pigeons in it), why shouldn’t a toaster have a chance? In terms of content, Date Everything can be quite deep, because if all the hundred characters are well developed, there will be no lack of replayability. So it’s not a title you’re going to finish in an afternoon.

Date Everything has been announced for PC only and will be released on Steam at some point. No release date has been announced yet. It will definitely have an audience, that’s for sure.
