The Microsoft lineup for 2024 is weakened because although Activision Blizzard and Bethesda are both based in Redmond, this is still an “in-house” development by Obsidian Entertainment!
In a tweet, Microsoft listed what games are coming under the Xbox banner, and in the text they noted, not incidentally, that instead of the previously planned fall release, the first-person action-RPG will come on February 18, 2025 for Xbox Series and PC (and will also get Xbox Game Pass, but will most likely require an Ultimate subscription to access the game from launch).
In a tweet, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer wrote that Xbox is proud of what the Obsidian Entertainment team has accomplished with Avowed, and they want to make sure the game gets off to the best start and can’t wait to enjoy it this year and with the games and updates coming later this year. While he’s on the subject, let’s take a look at what he listed on the Xbox Twitter account.
So many games coming! As such, we're moving Avowed to Feb 18, 2025 to give players’ backlogs some breathing room.
Stay tuned for more from our games across Activision, Blizzard, Bethesda & Xbox Game Studios at gamescom, including our Aug 23 livestream for a look at Avowed:… pic.twitter.com/3RnyVwlHRa

We're proud of what the @Obsidian team have accomplished with @AvowedTheGame and want to make sure they have the best launch possible. We look forward to you enjoying it along with the rest of our lineup of games and updates coming this year and beyond. https://t.co/NiGhrbNQgc

World of Warcraft: The War Within is coming on August 26th, Age of Mythology Retold on September 4th, Ara: History Untold on September 24th, Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred on October 8th, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 on October 25th and Microsoft Flight Simulator on November 19th. Microsoft has three more games/updates planned for 2024 with Starfield: Shattered Space, Towerborne, and Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. Avowed is coming on February 18th, and these are joined by three other titles with a 2025 launch window (South of Midnight, DOOM: The Dark Ages, Fable Reboot).
So the rumor we mentioned the other day was true, and they took it out of the crowded fall release window, as Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2 and Dragon Age: The Veilguard could all be released around that time…
