From Call of Duty to a New Frontier: That’s No Moon’s Game Leaks!

The studio’s name seems a bit odd, but we shouldn’t judge it by that, but by the leaked image, which shows great promise…

That’s No Moon was founded in 2021 and its founders include former developers from Naughty Dog and Infinity Ward. They’re not making a Star Wars game, despite what the studio’s name sounds like (even Inverse has debunked those rumors). They’re making a single-player first-person shooter AAA game, and from the job ads we’ve seen, they’re using Unreal Engine 5. That’s all we know so far, which isn’t much, but now new details have come to light. For example, we can see an image of an early prototype of the yet unknown game.

Considering the developers’ previous experience with Call of Duty, it’s no wonder that we see a military theme here as well. You can read it in the resume of one of their mocap artists, and he also worked on Call of Duty before. A tech rigging artist is also working on an unannounced AAA shooter, which reinforces what That’s No Moon is doing right now. He also mentions the vehicles, the technical aspects (cloth simulation, physics), which again points to the Epic Games engine.

The image of the game was taken from the 2022 demo footage by a visual effects artist from That’s No Moon. This was posted by MP1st and the site did not name them. A soldier is standing in a desert environment, with several pieces of furniture nearby, including a table that may have been destroyed by the player. At the bottom of the image, we can read some dialogue from a character named Branch (this could be the player’s), who says, “Stop moving! [I’m trying to kill you”. You can also see the weapon interface and the weapon you are using (SCAR). In the top left corner you can see the HP and stamina bars with two empty slots above them.

The game is exciting, but when will we hear about it officially?
