Apple Intelligence Delayed, But the New iPhone Range is On Schedule!

TECH NEWS – But what’s more questionable is the impact on sales if Apple’s artificial intelligence isn’t on the iPhone 16 right away.

The iPhone 16 lineup will be released in September, and the Cupertino-based company plans to launch four models. They’ll have iOS 18 right away, but that doesn’t automatically mean they’ll have Apple Intelligence out of the box. Apple is not willing to change its mind, however, as it says the new phones will still be available in September. But why is Apple Intelligence being delayed?

Apple may have taken on too much of a task, as perhaps too much generative AI functionality is planned for the technology. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman writes in his Power On newsletter that Apple Intelligence will reach the public with iOS 18.1 instead of iOS 18. So when will it be available? We’ll have to wait a little longer, and maybe the phone upgrade should happen a little later.

“These days, Apple typically releases the iPhone in September. But it faces a similar conundrum. Apple Intelligence – a core feature of the iPhone 16 – won’t be ready until October. This time, however, Apple is taking a different approach and won’t hold back the new hardware until the services are ready. I’m told that the iPhone launch will occur around the same time as last year – a quick look at the calendar makes September 10 a likely date – and users will need to upgrade their new hardware to iOS 18.1 in October to get started with Apple Intelligence,” Gurman wrote.

Apple previously planned to ship 90 million iPhone 16s by 2024, 10% more than the previous model, but that was before Apple Intelligence was delayed. The A18 chipset could bring improvements in display, design, and camera, and we’ve already seen how effective AI technology can be on the M2 iPad Pro.

So sales may be a little slow at first, but they could pick up starting in October.
