MOVIE NEWS – TJ Miller is not in Deadpool & Wolverine after claiming to “never work with Ryan Reynolds again”…
TJ Miller, who appeared in the first two Deadpool movies, did not return for Deadpool & Wolverine. In the latest instalment, many actors from the previous films return, including Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
For those who might not be able to place the name, TJ Miller plays Weasel, Deadpool’s friend who knew him before he became the X-Weapon. His character might not be the main focus of the movies, but he gets a lot of screen time in the first two, and he’s one of Wade’s closest friends.
Due to the lack of superpowers, writing his character out of the sequel would be easy. But Peter (Rob Delaney) and Dopinder (Karan Soni) return in the film despite being in a similar situation.
Where does the conflict between TJ Miller and Ryan Reynolds come from?
In 2022, Miller launched into a tirade against Reynolds, accusing him of being “horrifically mean” during the filming of the Deadpool series.
In an interview on the Adam Carolla Show, Miller said, “As the character, he was horrifically mean to me as if I’m Weasel.”
“So, he was like, ‘You know what’s great about you, Weasel? You’re not the star, but you do just enough exposition so that it’s funny, and then we can leave and get back to the real movie.'”
He went on to say that he would “never work with Ryan Reynolds again”, claiming that the success of Deadpool “changed him”.
Miller later appeared to dance back. She claimed it was all a “misunderstanding” and that she had patched things up with Reynolds.
Although the exact reason for his absence from Deadpool & Wolverine has not been confirmed by either Disney or Reynolds, the sexual harassment allegations against Miller likely played a role in the actor’s not being called back.
What were the allegations against the Deadpool star?
TJ Miller was accused of sexual harassment in 2017 in an article published by The Daily Beast. A woman told a Daily Beast reporter that during sex with Miller, he choked and hit her without her consent.
The woman said: “He just tried a lot of things without asking me, and at no point asked me if I was all right.”
Miller has denied these claims.
But that’s not the only accusation of abusive behaviour the comedian has faced. He was fired from Silicon Valley, the series that arguably catapulted him to fame. Showrunner Mike Judge told the Hollywood Reporter at the time of Miller’s departure: “There are a lot of different ways you can find out somebody doesn’t want to do the show anymore.”
“And it’s not fun to work with someone who doesn’t want to be there, [especially when] they’re one of the main people and you’ve got however many crewmembers and extras and people who are [not paid as well] and they’re all showing up before 7 am, and then are just like, ‘Oh, OK, we’re not shooting today.'”
Silicon Valley co-star Alice Wetterlund also criticized Miller, tweeting, “TJ Miller was a bully and petulant brat.”
She went on to blame his male co-stars for enabling his behaviour, and HBO released a statement saying it was “disappointed to learn of her concerns.”
TJ Miller has not yet commented on the case.
