Baldur’s Gate 3: The 46 Seconds that Changed the Life of Lae’zel’s Actor! [VIDEO]

Another character actor from Larian’s game originally envisioned Baldur’s Gate 3 as a completely different game, but now that we think about it, it would have been interesting if the popular creation of Swen Vincke’s team had taken this direction…

Lae’zel became a very popular character in Baldur’s Gate 3. Her voice actress, Devora Wilde, also enjoyed working on her and has now revealed the forty-six seconds that changed her life. With this short clip, she presented the application that finally landed her the role of Lae’zel… and it was so successful that it got her the job at Larian.

Wilde later refined his voice, but there is a reference to urine consumption in this 46-second clip. That’s… a bit steep, even for Larian. Let’s not delve into it any further… Wilde thinks she got the role of a lifetime with Lae’zel, and thinks Baldur’s Gate is as good (if not better) than any movie or TV show she’s ever worked on. And you don’t say things like that just for show. She obviously meant it!

Let’s move on to another character whose actor even won a BAFTA award. Andrew Wincott was excellent as Raphael. He was one of the most entertaining villains in Baldur’s Gate 3, and the way he suddenly turned the game into a musical when he performed his own theme song at the end of the House of Hope dungeon was simply brilliant. Writing Director Adam Smith revealed his first meeting with Wincott. Wincott showed a YouTube video of his musical performance, which has over a million views, and for a long time he thought Baldur’s Gate 3 would be a musical, not a video game…

This was Wincott’s first singing job. Although his agency told Larian that he could sing, he told the company that he could not. In the end, it didn’t matter, because Raphael’s performance was a huge hit, and Wincott ended up doing the song with Mariya Anastasova (she did several others). However, during development, both House of Hope and Raphael changed a lot. The latter was also originally intended to be a monitor, a more active character, and would have constantly monitored the team. He could also have taken control of the house and flown it through the nine hells.

Interesting stories, no doubt…
