From Software’s PlayStation 4-exclusive game, which has been out for nearly a decade, is in no rush to make a new version, but luckily for us, there is an alternative.
In the video embedded below, you can see two images shared by the ShadPS4 PlayStation 4 emulator team on the software’s Discord, proving that Bloodborne can now be played on the emulator. It’s not crashing during loading, the main menu, or character creation, so the emulator is moving at a very fast pace because it hasn’t been there before: a few weeks ago, ShadPS4 was only at the point where Bloodborne could boot.
Dark Souls Remastered has some form of playability, but it’s not really playable either, as the emulator freezes and waves a white flag as soon as you move your character. In any case, this is great news for Bloodborne fans, as the PlayStation 4 exclusive was created on the same engine as the Japanese studio. The emulator’s performance will slowly pave the way for a Bloodborne remaster, which could happen even if Sony never dares to do it (it’s a blockbuster IP, even if it was released in 2015).
A modder is already working on a remaster (we heard about it last week), so what’s happening this time is that fans are creating what the developers and publishers officially won’t or can’t do. Of course Sony can intervene here, because although they are not as strict as Nintendo, they can send a legal threatening letter to the modder to stop development or Sony will sue…
The development of the ShadPS4 PlayStation 4 emulator will only accelerate as the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and even the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series all run on the same x86-64 processor architecture that we see in today’s computers. The PlayStation 3’s Cell processor was completely different, so it’s no wonder it’s harder to emulate…
