Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3 Might Be Coming Sooner?! The Developers Speak Out

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi has admitted that they still haven’t decided what to do with the FFVII Remake Part 3 graphics engine, but there is a glimmer of hope…

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is almost certainly one of the best games of the year. It is most likely one of the main favourites to win the 2024 GOTY. However, it must also be admitted that this game does not close the story of Square Enix’s JRPG. Many people have already finished FF VII Rebirth and are dying to finish the trilogy.

However, all indications are that we will have to wait until at least 2027 for the third part of Final Fantasy VII Remake. But there is an opportunity to speed up the development process. This also requires updating the graphics engine to Unreal Engine 5 if possible. The director of FF VII Rebirth, Naoki Hamaguchi, reflected on this to the Japanese media CG World. “We’ll have to assess the pros and cons of [Unreal Engine 5], but I think it’s possible,” he begins.

“I think what our users want right now is to deliver the final game in the series in a good form as soon as possible.”

“We’ll think about it objectively and decide whether changing the environment will accelerate that, or whether it’s best to make it all at once as it is” – he explains (via GamesRadar). In addition to all this, he also notes that Final Fantasy VII The release of Rebirth took four years because part of the team was busy with the Intermission DLC for FF VII Remake.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the highest-rated game of 2024

With the exception of the Elden Ring expansion Shadow of the Erdtree, FF VII Rebirth is the highest-rated game of 2024 to date. It is also this year’s best-selling game in Japan. Despite the latter, Square Enix confirmed that Final Fantasy XVI and FF VII Rebirth sold less than expected. However, we will have to wait for their release on PC to find out how many extra sales they generate.
