TECH NEWS – Technology can save you the hassle of leaving your phone on the charger overnight so it doesn’t run out of power during the day…
Realme is not a new name in fast charging technology. Recently, during an event called Fanfest at their headquarters in Shenzhen, China, they showed off new innovations that could be coming to smartphones. There’s a touch-sensitive panel that supports swipe and touch at the same time, and the AirGap voltage transformer can protect the phone from power outages and also help with energy efficiency. Most importantly, SuperSonic Charge technology can recharge your phone’s battery in minutes.
The SuperSonic Charge is 320W, beating Xiaomi’s 300W solution launched last year (which charged a phone in 4 minutes 55 seconds), 26% in 1 minute, 50% in 2 minutes, and fully charged in 4 minutes 30 seconds with Realme’s technology. This is possible thanks to multi-cell batteries that can be charged simultaneously. The company now also has an ultra-thin, four-cell, half-fold battery (4420 mAh), and has achieved “coffee break charging”.
The 240W charger introduced last year can be upgraded to 320W, and Realme has done this without increasing the size. The Pocket Cannon offers two USB ports to charge your phone at 150W and your laptop at 65W. To address the power dissipation issues that occur when using SuperVOOC charging, Realme has developed the new AirGap voltage transformer, which physically separates the battery from the transformer.
It is not yet known which devices will benefit from the new technology and when the new SuperSonic Charge feature will be fully available. If we’re lucky, the fast-charging solution may reach the public sometime in 2025. Just make sure it doesn’t end up causing any damage, but with proper testing, that should be avoidable.
