Nightmare House: Reimagined: From Half-Life 2 Mod to Full-Fledged Horror Game! [VIDEO]

We Create Stuff, formerly known as In Sound Mind, is reimagining the Nightmare House 2 mod originally created for Half-Life 2, and they’re switching engines (unsurprisingly, Unreal Engine 5).

Immerse yourself in an action-packed first-person horror experience based on the legendary Half-Life 2 horror mod Nightmare House 2. No matter where you go or what you do, you can’t help but feel like you’re being watched. Armed with an axe, you walk through the horrors of an abandoned house, desperately searching for a way out of this nightmare. In this reimagined version, the developers decided to focus solely on the house from the first chapter of the original game. They took the house and massively expanded it into a full-fledged game. There are new rooms, secrets, dangers, and deep lore to uncover.

The game begins with the player character waking up in a mysterious, abandoned house. No matter where you go or what you do, you feel like you’re being watched. Search the house to uncover its secrets. Explore every corner to reveal unspoken truths as you overcome the nightmares that come your way. The original creators of Nightmare House and In Sound Mind are back to revamp and enhance the Nightmare House experience.

Collect nightmares and terrors to challenge them head-on. Overcome the terrors to reveal even deeper, unexplored layers of the house. Slash enemies, solve physics puzzles, maneuver through the environment, and make your way through the house in a true early 2000s horror experience reimagined in Unreal Engine 5. As part of the original core team, popular EDM group TLT is back to create a heart-pounding soundtrack.

Nightmare House: Reimagined is currently announced for PC only. All we know is that We Create Stuff will release it on Steam sometime in 2025. Presumably there will be no console version, although the studio may be planning to release one in time.
