We Found Out Why Gladiator II Can be So Expensive

MOVIE NEWS – Hair-raising numbers are circulating about the budget of Gladiator II, according to the most daring estimates, the total amount could have reached close to 310 million dollars.

The studio denies that the super-production cost so much, but the fact is that the spending is well above the planned $165 million. Many things contributed to this, including the Hollywood strikes, which significantly hindered the filming. Now, however, it turned out that director Ridley Scott did not hold back when he wanted to evoke ancient Rome, and this could have cost him a lot of money. A short time-lapse video was released at the suggestion of one of the main characters of the film, Joseph Quinn, which shows that the production has built several locations of the Eternal City in its physical reality, such as the Colosseum, and this is not cheap entertainment. So the crew did not shoot in a gymnasium in front of a green background, and then the computer conjures up the wonderful spectacle around the actors, but rather the sets were real.

At the same time, it is also worth knowing that although Ridley Scott likes as many things as possible to be real in his films, he is not averse to computer solutions and artificial intelligence (AI). He told Empire magazine that new technology must be accepted, and he is also happy to use it, for example, the fighting rhinoceros seen in the trailer for Gladiator II is also a child of the computer, which was partly created by AI.

Time-lapse video of the sets can be viewed here.
