Is Heroes of Might and Magic Revived?! Ubisoft Makes a Major Announcement [VIDEO]

It looks like Ubisoft will be reviving the series to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the original game with Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era in the second quarter of 2025.

Ubisoft has announced a new game in the Heroes of Might and Magic franchise. The top-down fantasy turn-based strategy series returns with Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era, which will be released in the second quarter of 2025.

The long-standing franchise has been dormant for well over a decade. The most recent release – Heroes of Might and Magic VII – was released in 2015. If Ubisoft’s Q2 estimate is correct, Olden Era will be released around the time of the franchise’s 30th anniversary.

The first Heroes of Might and Magic was released in 1995, although Ubisoft has only been publishing the series since 2006.

According to the new trailer, Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era aims to combine classic turn-based strategy gameplay with more modern RPG elements. The trailer also briefly shows a magic book, which hints at the title’s new active ability system.

The developers promise several game modes. Solo players can dive into the non-linear single-player campaign or try out multiple single-player levels and unlimited randomly generated scenarios. Alternatively, Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era also features co-op and PvP multiplayer. Additionally, the title includes a track editor mode where content creators can create their own stories and campaigns.

For the first time in the series, this new entry will be released as an Early Access title. Ubisoft and developer Unfrozen plan to build towards the 1.0 release with community feedback in mind.

Players can now wishlist Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era on Steam.
