The highly anticipated Silent Hill 2 Remake will be released on October 8 for PS5 and PC…
It’s a bit strange what’s going on around Silent Hill 2 Remake. Months ago, the anticipation wasn’t too high for it due to a State of Play trailer that left something to be desired. However, all this has changed; the mood is very positive around the game, so much so that even the community welcomed the fact that the length of the remake is more than twice that of the original. In the spirit of this, new details and statements from the creators have appeared in the past few hours.
Motoi Okamoto, the main producer of the Silent Hill saga, was able to talk to the authors of the 44th issue of PLAY magazine about the remake of the second survival horror game. He pointed out that it’s far from the same experience as the original title, but some minor changes are worth mentioning. “As for the creatures, we have some minor updates. We have also replaced and remapped all the enemies from where they were placed in the original so everyone can have a fresh take on combat,” – he mentions (via MP1ST).
In addition to Okamoto, Silent Hill veteran composer Akira Yamaoka also spoke about the music, which “all of the tracks have been reworked from the ground up.”
This was done to “make sure everyone has a fresh experience,” but this is not the only thing that Bloober Team did. In addition to relocating enemies, it’s worth noting that players can expect new puzzles, evasion mechanics, and more areas to explore.
Konami is serious about renewing the Silent Hill series
The senior producer talked about Konami’s ambition to renew the franchise. It has to do with wanting to show the players what they can do. “We fully understand that Silent Hill 2 holds a special place in many people’s hearts as being memorable and a masterpiece. So by introducing the remake of this game as the very first major title, we wanted to [demonstrate] to all of our players, all the fans, that Konami is serious about [renewing] the series, and that we are capable of delivering a high-quality Silent Hill game.”
