Starfield: Shattered Space: Massive Content from Todd Howard’s Team?

At Gamescom, Bethesda Game Studios (BGS) revealed more details about the upcoming DLC, which of course will be nowhere near as polished as what No Man’s Sky offered in its pile of free updates.

In an interview with Gaming Boulevard, Tim Lamb, Starfield’s Lead Creative Producer, explained just how good the paid DLC will be: “We’ve added some new mechanics that we’re really excited about. For example, there are new zero-gravity combat scenarios that really change the dynamics of how you approach combat. It adds a layer of strategy that wasn’t there before. We’ve also introduced new ship customization options that allow players to really tailor their ships to their play style. And on the exploration front, there are new tools and gadgets that will help players interact with the environment in a deeper, more meaningful way.

The new sector we’ve created is quite large. It’s not as big as the entire galaxy, of course, but it’s packed with content. We focused on making sure that every corner of this new area felt alive and had something for players to discover. Whether it’s hidden side quests, unique encounters, or just the sheer beauty of the landscapes, there’s a lot to keep players engaged. It’s less about sheer size and more about the depth of the experience,” Lamb said.

He added that Shattered Space has been seamlessly integrated into BGS’s gameplay, so even in the middle of a playthrough, the new content will feel natural, with more vibrant colors and varied areas, and more twists and turns in the story that will surprise players. Of course, this is subjective, as you never know how predictable the story will be.

Starfield: Shattered Space recently received its release date. The first DLC for BGS’s game (because Todd Howard wants something like this every year, apparently inspired by No Man’s Sky) is scheduled for release on September 30th for Xbox Series and PC. It will also be available on Xbox Game Pass.
