Old-new Metal Gear Solid On the Horizon – What’s In Store for Master Collection Vol. 2?!

However, Konami’s producer Noriaki Okamura insists that “they can’t reveal anything yet” about the new Master Collection…

Expectations are high for the Metal Gear series, and we’re not just thinking about the upcoming Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. But on Konami’s initiative to bring back classic games through the Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection selection. So far, only Vol. 1 has been released with three games (MGS, MGS2: Sons of Liberty and MGS3: Snake Eater) and a lot of extra content. But the community is already dreaming of a second part, which will free Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots from the captivity of the PS3. The community has been waiting for the adventure to become available on modern platforms for 16 years. All signs point to this wish coming true in the future.

Although nothing has been confirmed about Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2 and its content – which may also include the fourth part of the series – a Konami producer gave fans hope in a few words. Specifically, Noriaki Okamura addressed the issue of Metal Gear Solid 4 being available on only one platform in an interview with IGN. “We are definitely aware of this situation with MGS4.”

“Unfortunately we can’t really say too much at the moment with Vol. 1 containing MGS 1-3 dot dot dot… you can probably connect the dots!”

Despite the exciting lineup, Konami has nothing to announce yet. The Japanese company is calculating its steps regarding the Metal Gear franchise: “Right now we still are internally concerned about what we should be doing for the future of the series. So sorry, we can’t really reveal anything at the moment. But stay tuned!” So we must pay attention to what surprises the company has in store for one of its best-known brands.

What does the future hold beyond the Master Collection?

It really seems that, in addition to the already mentioned Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater and Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 2, we will have even more reasons to deal with the saga created by Hideo Kojima. While no other major announcements have been made, Konami has resoundingly assured us that it is working on the franchise’s future. What’s more, the company listened to some of the harshest criticism from fans, including phrases like “You guys killed Metal Gear!”, to devise an action plan. We’ll see what comes out of all this…
