Finally! Metal Gear Solid 4 Leaves The PlayStation 3 Behind!

It’s been fifteen years since Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was released on PlayStation 3, and since then, Konami hasn’t re-released the much-aged Snake’s adventures anywhere else.

We reported the other day that Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection Vol. 1, what it contains, when it will be released, and when we can expect to see the games, the first three of which will be available to buy separately. However, the collection’s name is already suspect: Volume 1, so Konami plans to release a second pack. It is not just a layman’s statement.

It has emerged on Twitter that the new website for Metal Gear Solid has a timeline, which is understandable since Hideo Kojima’s games don’t take place in chronological order story-wise. On the site, you can see the games from the first collection. Still, if you inspect the site’s elements, you suddenly find buttons for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker!

These four games could be the main games in the second installment of the collection, but as there are bonus games in the first bundle (we’re not thinking of the first two Metal Gears for MSX, but rather the NES Metal Gear and its sequel, Snake’s Revenge), we suspect there will be extras here, too. While we have Peace Walker from 2010 on the PSP, will they bring Portable Ops, maybe the two Acid titles? There are mobile games too, or even a retro take; the Game Boy Color Metal Gear Solid (Metal Gear: Ghost Babel in Japan) could be a good call.

Konami hasn’t confirmed any of it yet, but once the items are on the website, it’s only a matter of time. But the point is, this collection will end the PS3 exclusivity of Metal Gear Solid 4, which is packed with scenes! It’s about time, right?
