The DualSense Edge controller connects to the proprietary PlayStation VR2 adapter or the DualSense itself, so you can use it on your PC.
Sony has opened up support for customizing the DualSense Edge controller on the PC. To do this, you need to use the PlayStation Accessories app. Unsurprisingly, the name won’t ring a bell, as it used to have a different name (Firmware Updater for DualSense Wireless Controller). You’ll need to download the latest version (currently 2.0.0.13 – PlayStation 5 firmware numbers have become very confusing lately, so they’re continuing the tradition here) from Sony’s website.
It can only be used with the DualSense Edge, so it won’t work with the basic Sony controller. The app only works with the more expensive Elite model, and only opens the settings for that. What can be adjusted? You can fine-tune the button mapping, the dead zone, and even how much the controller vibrates, as you can set the vibration intensity to your liking.
Starting today PC gamers can unleash the full customizable power of the DualSense Edge controller directly on their computer.

So Sony is continuing its move towards the PC. It’s understandable, as the company has been complaining about the volatile global economy (which is why it has announced that it will make the DualSense controller, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation VR2 more expensive in Japan, which we covered in more detail in today’s news), and is essentially forcing Sony to look in the multiplatform direction, as it’s not sure that PlayStation alone will sustain the business. PlayStation Plus subscription numbers have not been disclosed for a long time, and there has been no official word on PlayStation VR2 sales.
The DualSense Edge controller has a flaw that is a critical example of planned product obsolescence. The analog sticks use the same cheap solution. Sure, you can replace them, but there are always shortages. It would have made sense to put Hall effect technology in the more expensive controller, but Sony didn’t. Let’s just keep buying the parts or DualSense controllers…
