Could We Have to Wait Even Longer for the Cyberpunk 2077 Sequel?! The Developers Talk About the Game

The latest news of a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel has mixed feelings among fans…

Yesterday, CD Projekt Red released an update on its upcoming projects, including the highly anticipated sequel to Cyberpunk 2077. The CD Projekt Red team shared the results of the first half of 2024 on Twitter and on their official website yesterday. In addition to news about The Witcher 4, there was also a bit of talk about the sequel to Cyberpunk 2077, which is currently codenamed Project Orion.

“The first half of the year was also a busy period for our Boston studio, which is laying the groundwork for Project Orion – a new game set in the Cyberpunk universe – says Michał Nowakowski, Joint CEO of CD PROJEKT,” reads the blog post.

In addition to the blog post, a short video was shared on Twitter in which Piotr Nielubowicz talks more about the project. Looks like development is still very early. The release of the game may still be many years away.

CD Projekt Red’s CFO shared the same update, but it drew mixed reactions from fans.

“Here’s hoping people don’t expect Cyberpunk (2) for a long time. That game isn’t coming until the 2030s,” said one of the comments. While another wrote: “My heart can’t take this, chooms.”

We still don’t know too much about Cyberpunk 2, but game director Paweł Sasko is optimistic about the series’ future. By the way, Igor Sarzyński, responsible for the game’s narrative, recently shared the team’s excitement.

“I couldn’t be more excited for this project and I’m sure we can make it something special. 2077 was just a warm-up,” he said.

Apart from the fact that we now know that the sequel is going well, we don’t know much else, but it’s still exciting news for 2020 RPG fans.

Of course, players hope that the sequel will be released in a much better condition than Cyberpunk 2077. But it seems that only time will tell…
