Deadlock Heroes Have Been Revealed – With Funny But Not Always the Kindest Comments…

Gabe Newell’s new MOBA shooter, Deadlock, is trending on Steam, and jokes like this are catching the attention of many.

Deadlock was an open secret for a long time. Valve’s so-called “secret game” has gathered tens of thousands of people every day since the company officially announced it and made it available to some testers last week. With that, Gabe Newell’s team lifted the ban on social media images and mentions of the game. However, he also left us with the final joke about a character: since the development team is not far from finishing the game, the description of one of its heroes is limited to simply calling him “asshole”.

The short description of one of the game’s heroes, Jacob Lash, caught the community’s attention with its ironic and carefree tone. In a genre where characters often have deep and complex backstories, Valve’s decision to mark Lash in such a direct and unusual way was welcomed as a breath of fresh air. While this text is likely to be temporary, some players have already expressed their desire to see this description remain as it is, as a testament to the irreverent spirit of the game.

However, while Lash has caught many’s attention, other heroes also reflect this mix of (good faith) passivity and lack of time in a project that stands out from the crowd. For example, Yamato, the futuristic samurai uniform-loving Japanese heroine, is described in Japanese because, unsurprisingly, that is her language.

Valve has clarified that everything in Deadlock is subject to change, from character abilities to descriptions to their backgrounds.

This means that even if Lash is just “an asshole” at the moment, he may get a more detailed backstory in the future. But for now, gamers can enjoy this glimpse into the development of a game that isn’t afraid to laugh at itself, making the wait for its official release all the more exciting.

Deadlock is gaining a bigger fan base every day

More and more famous names are trying Deadlock. Famous streamer and former pro gamer Shroud praised Valve’s new game, which is a hybrid of MOBA and third-person hero shooter. Known for his expertise in the genre, Shroud began playing and streaming Deadlock, calling it the best TPS game he had ever tried. He highlighted the complexity and variety of the game’s mechanics, mentioning that even 1,000 hours would not be enough to master it fully.
