Spider-Man 4 Is in the Works – But Without One of the Key Characters?!

MOVIE NEWS – The development of Spider-Man 4 looks set to go ahead without a pivotal character from the “Home” trilogy…

Marvel and Sony’s next Spider-Man movie is moving forward without a key team member. No, it’s not Tom Holland; don’t worry about that. It’s director Jon Watts leaving the helm of Spider-Man 4.

Watts was an essential part of the trilogy that saw Spider-Man take his place in the MCU. The director has overseen all three episodes of Holland as the famous Marvel hero and has achieved something incredible with his work.

Not only did audiences love each of the films – two of them crossed the $1 billion mark – but critics showered them with praise.

Unfortunately, Watts will not be returning to the MCU for the fourth Spider-Man film.

During the recent press tour for Wolfs, starring Brad Pitt and George Clooney, Watts said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that he had to leave the MCU movie.

“That was such a specific moment in time, and the reaction to that movie was just so unbelievable,” Watts says. “It’s never going to be like this, ever again.”

At one point Watts was supposed to be working on the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. However, he decided to back out. Matt Shakman replaced him. He was in talks to direct the next two Avengers films before stepping aside for the Russo brothers.

Jon Watts will always be an important part of the MCU for fans. He gave us a Spider-Man who was easy to like.

And who can forget the crossover multiverse craze that saw Maguire and Garfield reunited on the big screen in the role? All thanks to Watts’ work, too.

Not much has been revealed about the details of Spider-Man 4 just yet. However, rumours are already flying, which could mean that official news will come next year at the latest.
