Orlando Bloom Reveals If He Would Return as Legolas in New Lord of the Rings Movie

MOVIE NEWS – Orlando Bloom has shared his thoughts on the upcoming Lord of the Rings movie and his potential return as Legolas. The actor is open to coming back, especially if Peter Jackson, who kickstarted his career, asks him to.

The Lord of the Rings saga is set to return to both television and the big screen. Peter Jackson is currently developing a new movie centered around Gollum, with Andy Serkis (Gollum himself) directing. This project will delve into untold stories and is currently in its early production stages, aiming for a 2026 release. It promises to be one of Warner Bros.’ major releases in the coming years.

This news has sparked curiosity among fans of the Tolkien universe about whether the main characters from the original trilogy will appear in the new film. Ian McKellen (Gandalf) and Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn) have expressed interest, but what about Orlando Bloom (Legolas)? Bloom addressed this in an interview with Variety, and it seems he’s open to the idea.

“I don’t really know what they’re planning. I spoke to Andy Serkis and he said they were thinking about how to do things. I asked him, ‘How does that work?’ and he said, ‘Well, AI,’ and I was like, ‘Oh, okay!’ It was a pretty magical time in my life, and it’s one of those things where there’s no downside to it,” Bloom says. On reprising his role as Legolas, he adds, “Oh man, that stuff is amazing. Yeah, I don’t know how they would do it. I guess with AI you can do anything these days. But, if Peter Jackson says ‘jump,’ I’m like, ‘how high?’ I mean, he started my whole career.”
