Is AMD Giving Up the Fight?! Important Business Move Announced!

TECH NEWS – AMD confirms it doesn’t want to compete with NVIDIA; instead, it announced a roadmap for mid-range graphics card dominance…

We learned more than a week ago that AMD is preparing for a big launch with its next graphics card. According to various insiders, the American company wants to launch a device that can compete with the RTX 4080 (the second most powerful graphics card on the market), but it has one big advantage: it will be priced well below NVIDIA’s GPU.

However, as TechSpot recently reported, AMD doesn’t seem to be missing out on going head-to-head with NVIDIA in the high-end GPU arena. It looks like AMD will focus on mid-range and low-end products to increase its market share. This means that it will compete in this segment while leaving the top-of-the-line segment aside.

With this move, they aim for a 40-50% market share instead of focusing on the 10% representing high-end fans.

AMD does not want to be a premium brand

Jack Hunyh, AMD’s senior vice president, explained that their primary goal is to attract more game developers. To do this, they aim to increase their user base by targeting those who do not have access to expensive hardware. Hunyh said that the company does not want to be a brand associated with users who buy expensive products. Of course, it is not ruled out that high-end graphics cards will be launched in the future. However, the focus is on achieving a larger market size.

According to Steam’s latest survey, AMD GPUs are present in only 15.4% of participating gamer PCs. In contrast, NVIDIA has a 76.5% stake. In addition, NVIDIA has an 88% share of the desktop card market, so AMD is considering steps to reduce that share. However, NVIDIA’s monopoly position in the high-end market may mean that the price of its most powerful graphics cards will rise over time…
