Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 wasn’t in very good shape when it was released, and the Japanese company doesn’t want to repeat that with the sequel, and they’ve essentially made it official that Vol. 2 of the collection is coming…
Konami never promised a full remaster of the first three Metal Gear Solids, only ports, but even those were of poor quality (and it’s no coincidence that we reported back then how much fans had improved the condition), with missing options, some textures that were distinctly washed out, some sounds of terrible quality, and the first Metal Gear Solid was not downloadable everywhere. So the collection wasn’t released in the state that Hideo Kojima’s work deserved.
In Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 2, we can almost certainly expect the still inexplicably PlayStation 3 exclusive Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, which was released in 2008, to finally make an appearance on PC. Konami knows this is an important task, and they don’t want to let a sloppy collection slip through their fingers. In the latest episode of Metal Gear Production Hotline, franchise head Noriaki Okamura also expressed his concern about the rough start the first installment of the collection got off to, and they don’t want to repeat that.
Meanwhile, Konami is working on Metal Gear Solid Delta, a remake of the third installment, Snake Eater, which is expected to be released sometime this year. Most likely, Konami will only focus on the second part of the collection after its release. But what will be included in this collection? Obviously, Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain (and possibly Ground Zeroes) will be part of the package along with Metal Gear Solid 4. Perhaps it would be fair to say that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, which was released on the PSP in 2010, will also be part of the package.
We’d also love to see the GBC’s Ghost Babel, both PSP’s Metal Gear Ac!d, and Portable Ops in the bundle…
