Will PlayStation 6 Have This Popular Feature?! Reassuring News

TECH NEWS – The first major feature of PlayStation 6 has been confirmed, and it’s just what many have been hoping for…

The PlayStation 5 Pro has barely been announced, but many are already discussing the PlayStation 6. How why? Well, it looks like many Sony fans will miss out on the mid-generation update.

Although the PS5 Pro boasts improved ray tracing, a better GPU, and AI-driven upscaling technology, the $700 price tag discourages many from buying it. Especially when you consider that you’ll probably want to buy a $130 disk drive and a $30 vertical stand to go with it.

With that in mind, many fans are planning to hold on to their hard-earned cash and wait for the PlayStation 6 instead. In fact, the new generation of consoles is not expected to arrive until 2028 or later. However, there is already a lot of buzz after a much-anticipated feature has surfaced online.

One thing that Sony has never really excelled at is backwards compatibility.

Of course, we’ve always been able to play titles from the previous generation. But it would be nice to be able to go back in time even earlier than that without the need for cloud streaming via PlayStation Plus.

Well, the PlayStation 6 could satisfy that desire, as Sony has reportedly struck a deal with AMD to make the console’s chip. We’ve learned that AMD will prioritize backward compatibility. According to a Reuters report, AMD was still awarded the contract in 2022.

By comparison, AMD also made the unique chip (SoC) of the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Pro. If Sony had switched from AMD to Intel, it would have reportedly jeopardized the progress of backward compatibility. It’s not yet clear how ambitious Sony’s backward compatibility plans are for the PlayStation 6. Some say they can go all the way back to the PS3, but others are sceptical. But it is undoubtedly a relief to hear that this aspect is so important.

As we wrote, the PS6 will probably be unveiled in years. At the same time, it’s good to know that the console is being made, and if everything is true, Sony is really paying attention to the wishes of the players.
