The first domestic women’s e-sports competition is here

The domestic e-sport has reached another milestone. In recent years, the popularity of the sport has exploded in all social groups, including among women. At the domestic level, the Hungarian E-sport Association also supports this process, so after the formation of the Women’s E-sport Division and the first Hungarian women’s Counter-Strike2 team, the first domestic women’s competition will also take place. In the finals of the Valorant 2v2 Spike Queen Challenge powered by K&H, the best 4 female teams compete against each other. At the same time as the competition, the competition and career opportunities of female e-sports athletes will be presented as part of the Women’s E-Sports Professional Day.

On a global level, it can already be observed that female e-sports players are receiving more and more support, attention and opportunities to achieve success in major tournaments. The organizations associated with the sport recognized the importance of a more balanced ratio of the sexes. The signs of this transformation can already be seen in our country. In line with global trends, the Women’s E-Sports Section of the Hungarian E-Sports Association (HUNESZ) was established in the spring of 2024. This year, the Hungarian Counter-Strike2 national team will compete in the European regional qualifiers of the World Championship organized by the IESF (International Esports Federation) for the first time. , as well as the Global Esports Federation, Global Esports Games 2024 China competition, we can also boast of a Hungarian participant in the Assetto Corsa game in the person of Eszter Németh. And now the first domestic women’s competition will take place. In the finals of the Valorant 2v2 Spike Queen Challenge powered by K&H, the best 4 female teams from the qualifiers will compete against each other. This is the first all-female Valorant tournament organized by the HUNESZ Women’s Esports Division, and the final showdown will take place this afternoon at the Delta1 Esports Café.

“K&H is not only a committed supporter of domestic e-sports, but also an integral part of embracing the women’s discipline as a pioneer. Gender equality and the creation of equal opportunities are not only important in business life, but in all areas of our lives. In the case of a dynamically developing sport like e-sports, it is therefore extremely forward-looking if it can develop along the principles of equality almost from the beginning, every dedicated and determined female player will have the same opportunity to develop and achieve excellent performance. And this is what the sport needs, since – similar to many traditional sports, such as soccer or car racing – sexist stereotypes against female players are also present in e-sports, and, unfortunately, harassment typical of the online space is also present. This is clearly demonstrated by the fact that, based on the international statistics of Wifitalents, 46 percent of gamers are women, but they prefer to choose a neutral name in order to avoid negative comments,” emphasized Nóra Horváth Magyary Voljč, K&H Group’s head of communications. >

a day that is only about female e-athletes

In connection with the competition, the e-sport association holds a Women’s E-sport Professional Day, where topics such as the career opportunities inherent in female e-sports, the presence of women in the gamer world, and in international and domestic organizations and competitions, and the challenges of being a woman and a parent. The undisclosed goal of the event is to inspire the next generation through the successes and stories of female e-athletes.

“We strive to eliminate the gender gap in eSports so that female gamers are given the same recognition and opportunities as their male counterparts. However, the presence of women in e-sports is not only important for equality, but also reflects the diversity and richness of the sport. However, in order for this sport to be truly inclusive and accessible to everyone, it is of utmost importance to first increase the social acceptance and participation of female players,” Balázs Biró, Secretary General of HUNESZ, emphasized in connection with the event.
