Skyrim’s Beloved Granny Announces Retirement! [VIDEO]

88-year-old Shirley Curry, known as the Skyrim Granny, is getting tired of producing content, which is understandable, because after a while you need something new in your life…

After nine years of touring the northern part of Tamriel and amassing more than 1 million subscribers over nearly a decade, Curry explains in the video embedded below why she doesn’t want to keep doing what she’s been uploading to Google’s video-sharing site. One reason, understandably, is age: after all, at 88, you’re not as energetic!

“I’m old and I’m tired and I don’t feel like doing much anymore. It seems like I spend most of my time sitting in here at this computer, and lately – probably for the last month – I’ll come in here, look at my computer and think, ‘I’ve got to make a video today,’ and then I’ll just shake my head at myself and say, ‘I don’t want to, I don’t feel like it,’ and I’ll go back out. I just do it for fun and it’s not fun anymore. I’m tired of it and I’m bored to death with it. So I’m making the decision now, totally, finally. I am not going to make any more game videos,” Curry said.

She pointed out that she has made a lot of videos over the past nine years and asks her audience to watch her older videos if they are nervous in case they lack Skyrim Grandma. Curry revealed that she will still upload vlogs from time to time, and sometimes she will also talk about what books she has read or what she has written, as she is thinking about writing a book and will read a chapter from it.

Curry now has time to do something she hasn’t been able to do before: “I’m going to start a quilt that I’ve wanted to do for a long time. I designed the squares a long time ago, so it’s going to be a quilt that I designed.” Still, it’s an activity that seems out of her age range.

Hopefully she will get to play The Elder Scrolls VI before she leaves us. She has already said that she wants to play it in 2022.

Still, she likes puzzle and story-oriented games, like Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, which is her favourite title. She also played The Sims 3, but after accidentally killing a whole sim family, swore not to play it again. (For our office address, email and phone number check out our IMPRESSUM)
