The world-renowned composer will work with Lorne Balfe on Dragon Age: The Veilguard to fill the world of Thedas with music…
RPGs not only impress with fantasy worlds or memorable characters, but also leave a mark on the hearts of players with their music. BioWare understands the power of music in video games, which is why they entrusted Dragon Age: The Veilguard to two professionals with extensive experience in creating epic worlds: Hans Zimmer and Lorne Balfe.
The former, as mentioned in the article’s title, is responsible for the soundtracks of Gladiator and the new Dune films, among other things. However, his work has also extended to films such as Dunkirk, Interstellar, and Inception. During his career, he earned two Oscars for the soundtracks of The Lion King (1994) and The Dune (2021). Balfe is also a well-known – and recognized – name in his field: he has composed music for more than 170 films and video games, such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 and Assassin’s Creed 3.
Hans Zimmer has said that epic stories need epic music, and BioWare’s narrative weave in The Veilguard is a great inspiration, whether it’s moments of brilliant heroism or the game’s darker emotional moments. Zimmer is proud to have worked with Lorne and the entire design team to create the soundtrack for the latest Dragon Age adventure.
According to Balfe, the world of Dragon Age offers an immersive experience like no other. Dragon Age: The Veilguard proves this. The music, co-composed with Hans Zimmer, allowed them to bring epic majesty to the realm of Thedas by taking the characters and their stories to the next level. Both are looking forward to people playing this title.
BioWare accompanied all this with a sample of the Dragon Age: The Veilguard theme song.
