MOVIE NEWS – According to rumours, Clint Eastwood may not be done with Hollywood yet, despite claims that Juror #2 will be his last film…
While many claim that Juror #2 will be Clint Eastwood’s last directorial effort, that may not be true if the latest rumours are true. The courtroom drama starring Nicolas Hoult will be released on November 1 by Warner Bros. Pictures. It centres on a juror in a high-profile murder trial who finds himself faced with a moral dilemma that he can use to sway the jury’s verdict. It may depend on him whether the accused murderer is convicted or set free…
A source allegedly close to World of Reel’s Jordan Ruimy told her back in July that Eastwood is already reading scripts for his next film, and claims the 94-year-old star is in no rush to finish. When can we expect news about the alleged film? According to Ruimy, as soon as this month, following Juror #2’s world premiere at AFI Fest in Los Angeles on October 27. Check out the quote from his source below.
“Clint’s a workaholic and he’s already looking at scripts for a possible next movie. He had a great time making this one and wants to continue on.”
The source was recently confirmed by another industry expert, Jeff Sneider of The InSneider.
He claims to have heard, “Eastwood would like to get back behind the camera again one last time.” While this proves Eastwood’s commitment to filmmaking, it’s best to treat these rumours with a grain of salt. The veteran actor-director legend is well into his years. His intentions are understandable, but it is hard to imagine that – at the age of 94 – he would be in a position to take on the tedious task of devoting another year or more of his life to sit behind the camera for another film.
Clint Eastwood is still up to it – the oldest film director was 103 years old
Regardless, if Eastwood decides to make another film, he will not be the oldest director in history to undertake such a task. That honour goes to Portuguese filmmaker Manoel de Oliveira, who was 103 years old when he made his last film, Gebo et l’ombre, in 2012. He died three years later, at the age of 106. Another veteran, German director Leni Riefenstahl, directed the 2003 documentary Underwater Impressions at the age of 101. The Japanese Kaneto Shindo made his last film, 2010’s Postcard, at the age of 100.
All this means that it is possible that Eastwood will step back behind the camera even at the age of 94. But again, this is pure speculation for now, given that there has been no official word from either his camp or Eastwood himself. For now, American audiences can flock to theatres on November 1 to see Juror #2, which is sure to be another fantastic work in the history of one of Hollywood’s most beloved and celebrated stars.
