Is the Gotham Knights Development Team Creating a New DC Game?

WB Games Montréal (known for Gotham Knights and Batman: Arkham Origins) is rumored and hinted to be making a new game, and it won’t be very far from what the studio has been working on.

If you want a live service game from Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) that isn’t called Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, we might be in for a treat, as job postings from WB Games Montreal suggest that they have a new AAA project in the DC Comics universe in the works. The team is currently looking for a Senior Producer to join the game development team. And the job posting openly states which games you’ll be working on.

No specific franchises from the DC comic book universe were mentioned, but given that WB Games’ Montreal experience is focused on Batman, presumably that’s the direction the studio will take again. This project could possibly be an attempt to get the Batman Arkham franchise back on track, as Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was a huge failure.

The game will still get its first year of content, but beyond that, there’s no word on what WBD is up to. All that’s official is that Suicide Squad cost the publisher $200 million in losses. We’ve also heard that the Wonder Woman project Monolith is working on (Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War) is in a bit of flux. It will use the patented Nemesis system, and the game was announced for The Game Awards as early as 2021. Since then, we have heard NOTHING official about the game.

In June, a story and some concept art were leaked, but it’s questionable how much of it will be used by Monolith. Beyond that, what WBD has planned for the DC world is almost completely unknown. What we do know is that this time around, WB Games Montréal can’t wait nearly a decade for its next game.
