So not only will Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 be part of the more expensive tier of Microsoft’s subscription service, but so will two other titles.
It’s already official that Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 will be available on Xbox Game Pass from October 25, as one of Microsoft’s promises before it bought Activision Blizzard King was that it would make new episodes of the shooter that has been released every year for two decades available (and it also guaranteed that PlayStation and Nintendo would get them in some form). The Redmond-based company will continue to build on this, although Black Ops 6 is a big step as it will be part of Game Pass from launch day.
However, Xbox Cloud Gaming won’t just be available with this year’s installment (an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription is required, of course), as Microsoft has announced that last year’s installment, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III, and the free-to-play Call of Duty: Warzone will also be available. The corresponding Game Pass update will arrive on October 25th at 19:00 CEST, so keep an eye out for the three CoD episodes in the cloud from then on.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III has been on the Xbox Game Pass list since July, but there’s currently no way to play it from the cloud, and this update is a clear sign that Microsoft is trying to put more focus on Xbox Cloud Gaming (formerly xCloud). Playing from the cloud is available on Xbox consoles, PC, iOS, Android, Meta Quest, some Samsung TVs, and Amazon Fire TV, and as promised earlier, this also affects Ubisoft as they have the streaming rights for 15 years.
So it’s another move by Microsoft to try and push its audience towards the ultimate level of Game Pass.
