The creators of Silent Hill 2 Remake have hinted at their willingness to develop more remakes or even new games in Konami’s survival horror series, but they need Konami’s approval.
It’s been over 20 years since the original Silent Hill 2 was released, and back then, almost no one imagined that two decades later, we’d be enjoying a remake as complete and faithful as this one. Developed by Bloober Team, this remake marks their biggest achievement yet. Silent Hill 2 Remake stands as the most important project of the Polish studio. However, the team’s future may change course, as they are now open to releasing more iconic titles from the series.
In an interview with IGN, Silent Hill 2 Remake director and producer Wojciech Piejko discussed the studio’s future plans. When asked about the possibility of making more remakes of Konami’s legendary horror franchise, Piejko revealed that they are open to the idea and even to developing a new game. “I think we are always open. If we like the opportunity, we’ll take it,” the Polish creative confessed.
Piejko also noted that such opportunities don’t come around often. “There are opportunities that must be seized. Like with Silent Hill 2, you can remake the legend. So yes, I think anything is possible,” he concluded. Bloober Team is now positioned as the best possible studio to continue remaking iconic games, though they also deserve the creative freedom to develop a completely new video game for Konami’s franchise.
Silent Hill 2 Remake Sells Over 1 Million Copies
A few days ago, we reported that Silent Hill 2 Remake sold over 1 million copies within just three days of its release, marking an instant success for both Konami and Bloober Team. Player feedback on Steam has been overwhelmingly positive, with 95% of reviews labeled as “Extremely Positive.” In comparison, the original Silent Hill 2 (2001) took a month to reach the 1 million sales mark, which the new remake has shattered.
