Is a 2003 PS2 Classic Coming to PlayStation 5?

It’s been over 21 years since the game was released (and as a PS2 exclusive, as it didn’t appear on Xbox, GameCube, or PC), and not many people may remember it today, but Sony may have something in mind.

In 2016, Sony began porting some of the bigger titles from the PS2 catalog to the PlayStation 4. These titles feature higher resolution, more stable performance, and trophy support. The problem is that some games on PlayStation 5 perform poorly in the emulator, while a PS5 should be able to run these titles without any effort (the difference between the Emotion Engine and the PlayStation 5’s APU is stark…). And for PS1 games, it’s absolutely incomprehensible why there’s such a lack of supply, and these titles should really work perfectly…

Sony has just released Siren (Forbidden Siren) for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4. It was originally available for PS4, but was re-released with a new emulator and a platinum trophy. It was followed by a PS2 title, Primal, which was released in 2003. This game was recently removed from the PlayStation 5 PlayStation Store by Sony, which makes sense, as there were a lot of graphical glitches on the PS5 in the Sony Computer Entertainment Cambridge game (later called Guerrilla Cambridge; the developers of the original MediEvil closed in January 2017).

These PS2 games are generally available on PlayStation Plus Premium, the most expensive subscription level of PlayStation Plus. There have been several rumors about this category lately; we recently reported on what’s going on with God of War, as Kratos showed up in a place where Dino Crisis protagonist Regina had previously appeared, and she made her way to Sony’s service.

So Primal could be coming to PlayStation Plus Premium soon, but we don’t know when.
