Rayman Could Return?! Good News About the Classic Platform Game Franchise

Both Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan “recently started an exploration phase on the Rayman brand”…

Ubisoft owns several classic games that were popular at the time, but they currently have no new titles, or at least none that are worthy of their legacy. If you’re one of the many gamers waiting for a new Rayman game to be released, then we have good news, as the French company has officially planned to “explore” the Rayman brand. The last mainline entry in the platformer franchise was Rayman Legends – an excellent game in the genre.

A few hours ago, it was revealed that the team behind Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown had disbanded. But they weren’t fired. The studio members have been transferred to other important projects for Ubisoft. According to Insider Gaming, the developers have been divided into three games. One of them is the long-awaited Beyond Good and Evil 2, while others are working on the next Ghost Recon game.

The return of Rayman has become a reality

However, the third project, which is rumoured to be in the early stages of development, is a Rayman remake. Ubisoft has now indicated in a statement to Kotaku that the franchise is returning. A spokesperson for the French company revealed that the studios in Montpellier and Milan have begun the first steps to define the franchise’s future.

“We are pleased to confirm Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan have recently started an exploration phase on the Rayman brand,” it begins.

“The project is still in its early stages, and we will share more details later.” The creator of the original game, Michel Ancel, is reportedly involved in the project as a consultant. “As creator of the Rayman brand, Michel Ancel is being consulted to ensure consistency within the universe,” the announcement concludes. It has not yet been confirmed whether the new title will be a remake of any video game in the IP, but it could be a modern reimagining of the 1995 Rayman classic, one of the most critical games in the genre’s history.
