Greg Styczeń explains that constant player feedback demands intensive work on Manor Lords, but the medieval strategy game still holds a promising future
One of the most talked-about games in recent months is Manor Lords. This city-building game with real-time strategy elements has captivated fans of medieval simulations, who have been enjoying it for several months now. However, Manor Lords remains a work in progress; it launched in early access and sold millions of copies within days, signaling that there is still much to be done.
Despite this success, the developer acknowledges that the game is far from reaching its full potential and has spoken about why updates are taking time. Greg Styczeń posted on Twitter, explaining that while communication with players has been limited, he remains actively engaged in development, focusing on key improvements. “I’m reworking the supply and demand system in the market to make it less frustrating and to ensure that taverns and wells can operate properly with it,” he explained.
The Latest Improvements for Manor Lords
The new system is largely based on player feedback, as Styczeń shared that multiple players have pointed out that the marketplace still needs work. In response, he said, “I thought the marketplace updates were done, but players kept telling me it was bad and needed more work, so that’s what I had to do.”
Manor Lords aims to become the king of medieval strategy games, and in pursuit of that goal, it continues to implement features and improvements highly requested by the community. With over 2.5 million units sold, the game has been updated to Unreal Engine 5, added a “food decomposition” mechanic, and villagers can now become fishermen and crossbowmen. On Manor Lords‘ X/Twitter page, new maps are promised to be “coming very soon,” so we’ll be keeping an eye out.
