Is Alan Wake 2’s DLC Hinting at Remedy’s Next Game? [VIDEO]

Remedy Entertainment seems to be hinting at their next project in a scene from Alan Wake 2: The Lake House.

Before we get into what exactly it’s about, we have to warn you that spoilers are coming, so read the following paragraph at your own risk.

In one scene of The Lake House, we meet a mysterious character who is somehow connected to the setting of Control (The Old House). This was the previous game from the Finnish studio. There is some dialogue, and then this character turns to the camera and says, “Tell Jesse I tried. Jesse is the main character of Control. Then there is a short scene that seems to show this particular house, but also the streets of New York. This all seems to set up Control 2, and Remedy Entertainment has already announced that it is in the works.

Control 2 will be self-published by Remedy and co-financed by Annapurna (although we’ve heard that the company is in a bit of a mess). The company’s goal is to develop the Alan Wake and Control IPs into transmedia, so that we can see them not only in games, but in movies, TV series, and who knows what else. Related to that, Remedy is planning a shared universe. This is evidenced by the way Alan Wake 2 makes overt references to Control.

considering that the first two episodes of Max Payne are being remade).

“We are thrilled to have Annapurna on board! Annapurna’s creative values align perfectly with ours, making them an inspiring partner for the journey ahead. We at Remedy have been working on Control 2 for a while now, it’s looking amazing, and we feel that Annapurna is the perfect partner to work with as the game’s development moves towards production and eventually across the finish line,” said Remedy Entertainment creative director Mikael Kasurinen and Control franchise executive producer Juha Vainio in the press release.

Let’s hope that the development of Control 2 goes smoothly.
