A feature that was conveniently one of the best features of Sony’s current-gen console has suddenly disappeared, and it’s interesting that the company is keeping quiet about it…
The feature in question allowed you to instantly resume a game you had previously stopped playing (if it was supported) at the touch of a button, eliminating the need to restart the title. The feature is called Resume Activity, and yes, Microsoft has this feature on the duo of Xbox Series (where it’s called Quick Resume). Only the Redmond-based company didn’t do what Sony did in mid-September with the PlayStation 5 firmware, which was numbered 24.06-10.00.00…
Some suspected that the Resume Activity button had disappeared due to a bug, because in the 24.06-10.00.00 update listing, Sony wrote that a certain activity would require the player to start the game and then locate it. In October, the new firmware, 24.07-10.20.00, mainly affected the console’s activity cards. Three new categories for activity cards were added: Not Started, In Progress, and Completed. All three have potential spoilers, but the same can be said for the trophy list. So Sony seems to be reworking these, and the result may be that the Resume Activity button will have to go.
Currently, there are two ways to continue playing a game after putting your PlayStation 5 to sleep. One is to select the title’s tile icon from the main system menu, and the other is to scroll down to the bottom of the page in the Games tab and tap Play Game. Neither of these is a replacement for Resume Activity, as both essentially just start the title in question, not resume it.
While it’s true that not all games support the Xbox Series Quick Resume feature, Microsoft has taken a step forward in this regard…
